Our month of June got busy, but I finally got around to asking Noah these questions. Enjoy. I thought it was especially cute when he said that the thing he wanted to see was something he hadn't seen before. He looked at me after that question and said, "That question was easy"

Chad off to Air Force Training...

Bright and early this morning, I took Chad to the airport for his 48 day summer training with the Air Force. We left Camp Lutherhaven at 3:00 a.m. and I dropped Chad off at the airport. He is off to Alabama for the first 2 weeks and then on to a whirlwind tour that will take him to Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Texas over a 35 day period.

Family Camp at Camp Lutherhaven...

This weekend we were blessed to be able to spend the weekend at one of our favorite places for family camp. We were back at Camp Lutherhaven... While there we participated in many of the fun camp activities!

Including an early morning Polar Bear swim for Zeke and JJ... Before they got in they were supposed to scare the cold out of the water!
We also got to go swimming at warmer times of the day!

Family camp wouldn't be complete without craft time! Each of the boys picked and created their own craft (with a little help from mom and dad)...
Zeke made a church with a notebook hanging from it...

Seth made a smiley face picture frame...

Noah and JJ both made palm trees...

The boys recieved another lesson in archery... Zeke actually hit the target and JJ made it to the target, but it didn't hit the target...

And of course there were evening camp fires and hikes through the woods. We also got to sleep out at the Treehouse village we have been building all year!

One of our goals for the summer was to finally clean up the front of our house... There is still some work to do, but we did manage to get the flower beds in the front cleared fo weeds and planted a few nice looking plants.

We planted Foxgloves and Speedwells under the living room window...

Last fall we transplanted one of our rosebushes under the dining room window. We added a lilac plant and another rose bush to that this summer.

We also decided to give the shrub under our bedroom window some company... Maybe in a couple of years there will be a nice row of shrubs there.

Now we have the goal of not killing the plants and keeping the weeds out... A daunting task with my brown thumb...

Backyard Campout...

We decided to do a little backyard campout before Chad heads out for his annual summer Air Force training. We set up all of our tents in the corner of the yard! The boys had fun playing in the little pup tent.
Then that night we all took our sleeping bags outside and slept out under the stars. The boys told silly stories and watched fireflies! All the joys of camping right in our backyard!

Vacation Bible School 2009

This week at Praise, was VBS week! We used the theme G.A.D.G.E.T.S. Garage where God's Always Doing Great Exciting Things through Jesus! Over the week we shared the Gospel message with 100 students using Gizmo the Robot and Chad as G.A.D.G.E.T. the robot creator. As Gadget worked out Gizmo's bugs the kids learned how God works to transform us!

It was an exciting week of music, Bible stories, games and crafts!

New Wildcat Season Begins...

Today Zeke and JJ started a new season of Wildcat baseball. This is a wonderful, non-competitive, teaching league in town where kids can play for only the cost of the hat and the shirt. Zeke learned a lot playing last summer. This year started with a field day to assess the strengths of each player. While there they batted, ran bases and practiced throwing. Tomorrow they will be assigned teams.

Noah's Birthday Dinner...

Grandma and Grandpa Potts came to visit a couple of days after Noah's Birthday, so we saved the his birthday dinner and cake for when they were here. Noah picked a fruity dinner. He just wanted all kinds of fruit, so we went to the store (and Grandma and Grandpa brought more). We also added hamburgers from the grill and french fries.
After dinner we brought out Noah's Cake. His requested cake for this year just had to have some toys on it, so it was decorated like a road with trucks. He also wanted balloons on it somewhere. We also light their baptism candle on their birthdays to remind them that they have been chosen by God and have his light in thier lives. Now they are to shine for others.
Of course, Grandma and Grandpa brought a few more presents as well!

Happy Birthday Noah!

On June 5 Noah turned 5. For his Birthday, Noah chose to go mini-golfing at ride go-karts. So, in place of our usual trip to Chuck E. Cheese, we went to a place called Putt-Putt entertainment center here in Fort Wayne.
He opened his presents at home after a backyard cook-out.
Grandma and Grandpa Potts were coming for a visit on Monday, so we are saving the cake for when they come!

African Safari

Today we went to the zoo for the grand opening of their African Safari. The place was packed and we spent 1 1/2 hours walking through exhibits of lions, hyennas, zebras, wildabeast, giraffes and more. The boys were very inquisitive and learned how hard it is for lions to find food in the desert. There is also a giraffe feeding station, but we didn't take the time for that today...
