Trunk Or Treat 2

Friday night was our turn! Our church hosted a trunk or treat and we volunteered to have a car out there. Each year our family picks a theme and we try to all dress up together. This year we all dressed up in Star Wars theme.

Zeke chose Darth VadarJJ chose Obi Wan Kenobi,Seth and Noah chose storm troopersChad chose Hans Solo and I chose Princess Leiagh. Here is the family picture our church took!

We even got our car into the theme by decorating with wings and stars to enhance our star wars theme.

During the trunk or treating there were also games taking place inside the church and a supper of hotdogs. When the games and trunk or treating ended we had the kids gather together for a time of singing.

We really enjoyed our alternative Halloween!

Trunk or Treat 1

In Fort Wayne there is a popular Halloween Alternative called Trunk 'r' Treating. There are several churches in the area that host these events during the week surrounding Halloween. Several people from the church are recruited to decorate the trunk of their car and the cars are parked in a line or around a parking lot. The fun starts as the kids arrive and "trick or treat" from car to car. We did first of these on the Wednesday before Halloween at a church down the road from us. The kids got all dressed up in their Star Wars Costumes and collected candy. Then we went inside for a time of singing and awards were given. And of course the kids dig into their candy (at least as much as the mommy's and daddy's will let them)

Country Time at Praise

Our church had a Fall social at church today! It was an evening of dinner, square dancing and apple deserts! Chad and I went and the kids played in the nursery.

I will try to get copies of the pictures that were taken during the evening to post a few here, but pictures or not, we had a great time! Between the Grand Chains and prominades we laughed with friends and enjoyed the fellowship at church.

Here is one picture of Chad and I before the evening began.

Flag Football Season Ends

The season for flag football ended on a cold fall day. We were making up a game that was rained out earlier in the season. Between the blustery wind and the upper 40 degree temperatures there were a lot of cold boys and girls on the field.

JJ and Noah played first and kept a positive attitude throughout the game despite the cold temps. After the game they were awarded a participation medal!

Zeke played next and did his best. Cold fingers caused a dropped pass or two. He was also awarded a participation medal. He wanted to show off both of his medals (the other one is from baseball this summer).

Seth, of course, wanted his picture taken too! He can't wait to play football next year!

Packer Football!

Living in Indiana, we don't get a lot of opportunities to watch the Packers play. It seems that just about every neighboring team is played before they will play the Packer game... We see the Bengels, Browns, Bears etc. before we see Packer games. But today the Packers played the Colts and the Packers and pulled off a big win. We enjoyed a quite Sunday afternoon of football!

Grandma and Grandpa at Flag Football

On October 18th, Grandma and Grandpa Breeden came to visit. Zeke, JJ and Noah had a chance to show off their football skills!

Zeke's game started bright and early at 8:30. He had a great game and his team won their first game this year.

Zeke helped out on defense by pulling a couple of flags.
After the game, Grandma, Grandpa and Zeke posed for a picture.

We had a half hour break and Noah and JJ's games started at 10:00. JJ had a great run that lead to a touchdown!

Noah got the ball and ran in the right direction! After the game we got Noah and JJ together for a picture with Grandma and Grandpa too!

It was a beautiful fall day and after the games we went to Cabella's for lunch!

Flag Football

Every Saturday for the past few weeks we wake up and head to the YMCA where Zeke, JJ and Noah are involved in flag football.

This is the second year for Zeke. He plays on the Jaguars. He is doing great and has learned a lot since last year. His friend Max plays on his team too!

JJ and Noah play together on the Panthers in the PreK-Kindergarten league. This is JJ's second year and he has also improved. He keeps his head in the game and listens to his coaches. He has even scored three touchdowns and come close on a couple of other runs! When he gets the ball he takes off running and when we see him on the sidelines he is always excited to point out how fast he ran!

Noah is in his first year. Noah is having fun! The coaches work weekly with him and the other younger players to help them understand things like, the word "hike" means go in football and when you are on defense your only job is to get the flag of the player with the ball. The first time he got the ball this year the coach (after needing to remind him several times that it was his turn to get the ball) he took it and started running away from his endzone... He is learning though and having fun!

A weekend away...

After Chad returned home he hit the ground running with school. On Saturday morning we picked the kids up from our friends house and went to Flag Football. After that we had a little family fun and then Sunday we went to church and took a serious nap that afternoon. Monday morning Chad started class three weeks behind at 8:00 a.m. Needless to say the first week of him home flew by.

Then on Friday Chad's sister arrived and Chad and I left for Camp Lutherhaven. I wish I had some pictures from up there because it is such a beautiful and relaxing place. We usually take the kids with us, but this time Chad's sister had the kids and we had a couple of days to relax and enjoy each others company.

The weekend was called Rest: Redefined-Rediscovered. What a perfect title for our weekend and exactly what we needed after a few months with no real break. On Saturday afternoon we took some kyaks out on the lake for a couple of hours. On Sunday morning we went to church at a friends field work church not far from the camp. Then we returned home to the kids and a fabulous dinner at a Mexican Restaurant that is quickly becoming one of our favorites. (I love their Chimmechangas!)

Don't we look rested and refreshed!
