Vicage Placement...

What an exciting night it was. Going into the service we were a bundle of nerves. I told several people that I didn't think they could shock me... I was in for a big surprise... But a good one...

First we dropped the boys off with our friends the Gumbert's. The excitement was building.

We headed to the seminary for the service...

Finally the moment arrived.... Here is what we heard...

Wait a second... did he say Colorado... Did he really say just say Leadville, Colorado? Since you may not know it, almost 10 years ago Chad and I honeymooned in Breckenridge... just 38 miles down the mountain from Leadville... yes I said down the mountain! Leadville, Colorado is the highest incorporated town in the United States and sits at 10,200 feet elevation! We absolutely love Colorado and have wanted to go back for a long time!

Our church is Good Shepherd Lutheran and has 45 members. Prior to vicars they were served as a dual parish with the church in Breckenridge. They are coming up on their 50th anniversary this summer. Chad will be their second vicar. We are excited to be a part of what God is doing in Leadville, Colorado and can't wait to see what that is!

A couple more random pictures...
Chad and I celebrating the big news after the service.

The three amigos from summer Greek 2008... Doug will be a delayed vicar next year... and Joe has been placed in Wheaton, IL.
So for the Potts family it is next stop... Colorado!

The big days in our lives....

Over the course of our lives there are days that we anticipate and look forward to and can't wait for them to arrive...
For me some of them are...

My Wedding day...The birth of each child...
Zeke
JJ
Noah
SethChad's homecoming from Iraq...

Over the past few weeks another greatly anticipated day has been approaching. We are now just a little over 24 hours away from the announcement of Chad's vicarage church. This is the church where Chad will be placed for a one year internship/mentorship. We have prayed for and anticipated this day for months and for the past couple of weeks the anticipation has been growing. Tomorrow night (Tuesday 4/27) there will be a service at the seminary at 7:00 p.m. and we will hear the words "Chadwick Potts....."

Can't wait to let you know how that sentence is finished!

What's Keeping us Busy...

We've been busy this winter... And one of the things keeping us busy is getting our house in order... We've been preparing for renters next year and there were things that needed a new coat of paint like the boys bedrooms...
And the Main Bathroom...
And fixing the shelves in the laundry closet...

Spring Haircuts...

With the warmer weather comes the new spring hair cut...

Couldn't resist this halfway picture with Zeke....
Zeke and Seth requested complete buzz jobs (or as Seth likes to say... bulbed [bald])
JJ wanted a little longer on the top....
And Noah wanted to look like Dad...

The faith of a child...

I love those moments when the faith of my children shines through their words...

Seth at the store the other day- "I am never going to die."
Me, "And why is that Seth?"
Seth, "Because of Jesus and heaven."

JJ came outside the other day, "Mom, I picked up all the toys in the toy room."
Me, "That's great, JJ!" (and trust me for JJ to take this task on all by himself is pretty amazing).
JJ, "Yeah, it was kind of hard, but when it got hard, I just sang songs about Jesus"

Noah's nightly bedtime prayer, "Please help us have no bad dreams and nothing that chases us in our dreams."

Zeke as we are getting into the car for church... "Wait, I need to run upstairs and get my Bible."

What a blessing the gift of faith is and what a blessing to watch it grow in my children!

Been a whlie...

My biggest problem with keeping up here is getting pictures off my camera and onto my computer... So today I say, "Who needs pictures?" (They will come later)!

Happy Easter!

We have had a beautiful beginning to spring and the weather has gotten us out of the house a lot! Hardly feels like spring most of the time... More like early summer! The bikes are out and Seth has improved on the skills he was learning at the end of last summer. He is a pro and has even learned to start the bike himself. There is a freedom that comes to our family with all the kids riding bikes without training wheels and we have hit the trails around town a bit more this spring! Noah is also sporting a new bike!

Zeke and JJ continue their way through the formation of our nation... We have gotten through 30 of our 50 states and are just discovering the California Gold Rush and the migration west! We also have taken a look at the magnificent human body and how God created it to work together to give us the energy we need each day!

Zeke is quickly working through the end of his Math book for the year... I am looking for a third grade Math curriculum for him and will need to order it soon.

JJ is progressing in his reading. He is starting to recognize words without always needing to sound them out.

Noah has also started the reading journey. He is excited to be able to read simple three letter words and sentences...

Seth continues to do the things all preschoolers love... Coloring, cutting, glueing and growing! It is hard to believe that our youngest will soon be 5.

There's a glimpse of the kids lives...

Happy Easter

Our Easter Sunday started bright and early at 5:00 a.m. as we got ready for the Sunrise Service at church. We sang with the choir this year and enjoyed the early morning, followed by breakfast and an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Then we sang for the second service before heading home for a nap.
Later that afternoon we headed over to a friends home for an Easter Dinner with several other seminary family (sorry my camera was at home) and another Easter Egg hunt. Lots of delicious food and fun times for all!
