In Fort Wayne there is a popular Halloween Alternative called Trunk 'r' Treating. There are several churches in the area that host these events during the week surrounding Halloween. Several people from the church are recruited to decorate the trunk of their car and the cars are parked in a line or around a parking lot. The fun starts as the kids arrive and "trick or treat" from car to car.
We did first of these on the Wednesday before Halloween at a church down the road from us.
The kids got all dressed up in their Star Wars Costumes and collected candy. Then we went inside for a time of singing and awards were given. And of course the kids dig into their candy (at least as much as the mommy's and daddy's will let them)
