We arrived on Friday afternoon, checked into our hotel and then went to the campus. We also took some time to drive around the neighborhood we were living in when Zeke was born. He found this to be fascinating. Friday night the Kingsmen played the Preachers. It was a loss to an excellent team, but our guys played great and worked well together.
On Saturday morning we got up and enjoyed our continental breakfast and the swimming pool. Then we headed off to the Arch. This was a highlight of our trip. The kids thought it was great and were fascinated by the arch. We also took some time to explore the Westward Expansion Museum (which is perfect timing with our homeschooling agenda... we are currently studying the states in the order in which they joined the U.S.)
After the game we spent a little time at the St. Louis Zoo. Can you believe the only picture I took while we were there was of a snake... This was thanks to Noah who asked for a picture of the snake... Otherwise the camera may have spent the entire time in my pocket.
On Sunday morning we visited the church that I worked at and that we took Zeke to the Sunday after he was born. He thought this was great and said as we sat down, "Now I am home..." Perhaps this is a sign that we have moved around a bit too much in his young life, but it was fun taking him around to all the places we used to visit. The weekend in St. Louis was also a great reminder that we are not big city people and it may be fun to visit, but it was great to leave and come back to a slower pace of life as well.
When we got home on Sunday night the boys rebuilt the city of St. Louis in our toy room out of legos... They had the hotel, the zoo, the bridge, the seminary and, of course, the Arch...
