Favorite Girl...

Tonight we are at the playground and the big boys and dad were playing football while Seth and Mom were swinging on the swingset.Seth turns to me and says, "Mom, you are my favorite girl in our family." Awww... Then he started laughing. "Mom, you are the only girl..."
I have been asked by many over the years if I wish I had a girl. Truth is, yes sometimes. I see things like Father/Daughter banquets and Mother/ Daughter retreats and I realize that there is a different bond in those relationships that cannot be replicated with sons.

However, most of the time, I consider myself to be in just the right place (for that is where God always puts us). I love being a mother of boys. Sometimes they want to do things that get a mother a little dirty (and many times I send them out with Dad for those things, though sometimes I tag along), sometimes they bring me "gifts" in the forms of bugs and spiders and other creepy crawly things that I would rather they kept to themselves, and many times I close my eyes at the adventures my boys find for themselves... Even these moments bring me joy as I watch my little boys grow...The energy in our house is amazing. I often tell people that in order to understand the energy of boys you need to multiply it exponentially. 1 boy you have 1 boy. 2 boys is more like 4 and by the time you get to 4 it feels a lot like 16! What a way to keep myself young, just trying to keep up with that!Another fun part of boys... You ask for a hug from one and all 4 come running and it turns into more of a wrestling match! Then there is the "brother bond"... A group of boys who are close in age growing up in the same home often have it. There is something about brothers that keeps everyone laughing and on their toes. The battles are many, but they are also short. Sometimes bruises occur from these battles, but at the end of the day, the "brother bond" remains and is often heard in the giggling and laughter that escapes the bedrooms long after they have been put to bed.
I am truly a blessed mom and I wouldn't trade a minute of it (even for a girl)!
